PowerfulAdvice for Warm Weather

Today’s conservation advice / alert, otherwise known as PowerfulAdvice from the Public Utility Commission of Texas, provides education on energy conservation to help consumers understand easy methods to lower electricity bills. The PUCT is also using PowerfulAdvice as a platform to help mitigate or lessen the strain on the Texas electric grid during the higher demand and hotter summer months.

One aspect worth mentioning is that the PUCT offers no-cost conservation tips so families can shave costs and reduce energy consumption without having to spend hard-earned dollars on appliance or household upgrades.

A few of today’s conservation tips from the PUCT for normal conditions:

  • Set air conditioning thermostats to at least 78 degrees and use
fans to make it feel cooler. Block the sun by closing blinds or drapes
on windows that get direct sun.
  • Turn off lights, TVs, computers, or other electrical equipment when not in use.
  • Run your dishwasher and laundry equipment only when fully loaded.
