Reporting a Power Outage in Texas
By energy_linguist, September 23, 2009, FAQs
Who should you contact in case of a power outage in your area?
Before the days of deregulation, it was a single company that handled both your billing and transmission of electricity service. With the development of Retail Electric Providers and Transmission and Distribution Companies in Texas, the duties were split to ensure that REPs focus solely on the billing and customer service, and the TDSP focuses solely on maintaining wires and poles and the ongoing reliability of electricity in their service areas.
We've provided a list of local electricity delivery companies that service areas across Texas, but in case of a power outage in your area, you can also reference your electricity bill to find the appropriate contact number for your TDSP. Any billing or payment-related inquiries, or if your simply seeking information about your service, contact your electricity provider directly.
So in cases where you experience a power outage, your local TDSP will handle the repair.
