100 Best Companies for Working Parents

I think most moms feel that having the title of “mom” can be a hard to bear at times. For stay at home moms, it can be difficult to balance time spent with your kids, your spouse and yourself, not to mention the rest of your daily duties.  For working moms, balancing the items listed above in addition to working 40+ hours a week adds an additional challenge.   Though life is busy and at times overwhelming, I’ve heard that for working parents, it’s the employer who can make life a little easier and manageable.

I got this idea for a blog from an article I read at workingmother.com. They put together a list of their top 100 Best Companies for 2009.  This list is comprised of companies that they feel are standing strong in their support of working parents and their families even despite these recent economic hard times.  They claim these companies aren’t as concerned with the “how, when and where” your work is being done, it is the quality of your work that is most important.  In addition, all of these companies offer telecommuting and flextime schedules and 98% of them offer job-sharing, which to me is something that many moms are looking for these days.   They also strive to help working parents with child-care, which is amazing. The majority of them offer backup care and just over half provide sick-child care as well.

I tip my hat to these companies for their commitment to helping working parents! Keep up with the good work!
