Farmer’s Market is the New Market

The newest item on my to-do list is to visit a local farmer’s market. It’s time to stop complaining about the percentage of fresh produce items your local supermarket carries and make a change for the better. Almost all cities and towns have farmer’s markets, whether these are held once a week or open every day, it is an excellent choice for buying anything fresh and local.
There are great benefits to purchasing food items this way. Obviously, you are improving your diet by buying fresh food and you might even get some ideas from the producer on how to cook the items. There are also environmental benefits by not requiring major packaging and encouraging organic and pesticide free thinking. This can also have benefits for the community by stimulating local economy and getting people out and mingling at these markets.
Check out your local paper for days and hours of operation for your local farmer’s market.
