Labor Day Events

Labor Day Weekend is almost here!  As most people know, this nationwide holiday is always celebrated on the first Monday in September.  It was created to honor all American men and women workers, and so now you get a three day weekend!  So get out and do something fun this holiday weekend and enjoy your time off.  Here are some events scheduled for this well deserved weekend.

In Houston

  • Rice vs. Texas Football Game.  This event squares off on Saturday, September 4th at 2:30 p.m. at Reliant Stadium.
  • State Farm Labor Day Classic. Rivals Prairie View A&M vs. Texas Southern University will be battling it out at Reliant Stadium on Sunday, September 5th at 4:00 p.m.
  • Houston Texans Kickoff Party.  On Sunday, September 5th join the Texans players, cheerleaders and mascot at the Kemah Boardwalk to kick off the football season.
  • 1st Annual Brewmasters International Beer Festival at Moody Gardens.  Calling all beer lovers! This four-day celebration will showcase more than 300 international, domestic and Texas brews.  The event will also include a homebrewers competition, a charity golf tournament, live music and more.

In Dallas

  • AnimeFest.  For all you Anime lovers, it is time for AnimeFest 2010.  There will be Manga/Comic Artists, Panel Discussions, Autograph Sessions, Film/Video Premiers, and much more.   All of these events will take place from September 3 – 6, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas at Reunion.
  • Labor Day Concert & Picnic at the Arboretum.  Come out to the Dallas Arboretum on September 6th, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. for a Labor Day picnic and performance by Deryl Dodd and the Homesick Cowboys.
  • TCU vs. Oregon State football Game.  This hometown event takes place at the Daniel Meyere Coliseum and kickoff is at 6:45.
  • Red Dirt Roundup.  This Labor Day Weekend, bring a blanket and enjoy the music from Cross Canadian Ragweed at the 4th Annual Red Dirt Roundup.
  • Summer Gunfights at the Forth Worth Stockyards.  If it’s the action of a real cattle drive and gunfight you’re looking for this Labor Day Weekend, then make the drive to the Forth Worth Stockyards. This is fun for the whole family!
