A Second Chance for a Rebate
By Brooke, October 4, 2010, Energy Efficiency, Save Money
For Texans who missed out on the energy-efficient appliance rebate last spring, there is good news. You’ll have a second chance to earn your rebate this coming winter. Because of unclaimed rebate funds from the first round of appliance rebates, Texas has $10 million in stimulus money left to be handed out via a new appliance rebate program.
Before those frustrating memories of trying for hours to receive the rebate to no avail come rushing back, I have good news. This time, the process will be a little different; you’ll apply for rebates by mail instead of by phone or internet like the last time.
For the most part, the program will stay the same, allowing consumers to apply for rebates on certain Energy Star appliances such as refrigerators, clothes washers, dishwashers, etc. The only difference is (other than the way you apply) the rebate amounts may be subject to change.
As of now, there are no set dates of when this program will start, but be sure to check the New Winter 2010 Appliance Rebate periodically, which will post any additional details as they are confirmed.
