Guest Writer Stephanie Pertuit Breaks Down Texas Electricity Refer-a-Friend Programs
By Paul Colgin, August 5, 2011, News, Save Money, Special Offers
When we approached our friend Stephanie Pertuit about doing a research assignment for us, we were looking to find out how Bounce Energy’s refer-a-friend program stacked up against other Texas electricity companies and their programs.
Obviously, when we were planning and developing our program, we looked at several providers to make sure we were going to create and launch the best program in the state (much like our rewards program). But, things change, other providers change their programs, new providers followed suit and have created their own semblance of a refer-a-friend program and we wanted to make sure our program is still one of the best in the industry. We needed a refresher. And most importantly, we wanted to get an un-biased, 3rd party opinion on where we stand.
So, we asked Stephanie to put together a document that broke down the key components of what she thought a refer-a-friend program should be and what company (or companies) are running the best program from a consumer standpoint. Stephanie is a former co-worker of several members of our executive team when we were at WhiteFence, a home services aggregator that owns and operates sites like ElectricityTexas.com, ElectricChoiceforTexas.com, GreenEnergyinTexas.com and several others. Stephanie was part of the team that helped write, develop and launch those sites, so we knew her knowledge of the Texas deregulated market and it’s providers would help us get the best information.
The key points Stephanie came up with to compare each provider’s program were:
- How much or what does a customer get when referring a friend?
- How much does a friend get, if anything, when they sign up?
- Is there a limit to how many friends you can refer?
- How easy does the company make it to refer your friends?
Stephanie even went so far as to create a scoring system to help her determine the best program. While other providers do have solid and customer-centric programs, I believe the report shows our program as being the best in the state. And, when you add in our competitive low rates, our superior rewards program, our best in industry MyAccount management tool, you start to get a clear picture why Bounce Energy has been one of the fastest growing electricity companies in Texas, why 3rd party consumer advocacy site Texas Electricity Ratings has ranked us the #1 provider in the state, and why we’ve become the most “liked” electricity company in the nation on Facebook.
I invite you to read Stephanie’s entire report, “Decoding Texas Electricity Refer-a-Friend Programs“, and give us your opinion.
