Sundance Cinema – Bounce Energy Small Business Profile
By Adam, January 19, 2012, News, Small Biz
Like any good company, Bounce loves our customers – simply put, we wouldn’t exist without them. Yet, even with all of our wonderful residential accounts serving as the bulk of our customer base, we hold a special place in our hearts for the small business owners around Texas who have entrusted their energy needs to us. Such an alliance is based upon the kindred spirit Bounce feels with other growing businesses, but it’s also because the backbone of this country is built upon the persevering spirit of independent entrepreneurs. Thus, we want to highlight a different Small Business each month in order to give that business a bit of special attention; hopefully, other small businesses across Texas will consider Bounce for their energy needs.
A collective groan rose from the lips of many proud “Inner Loopers” when Angelika Theaters closed in Houston, TX back in August 2010. The city had just lost one of its only two independent theaters, leaving only the River Oaks Theater to provide residents with movies of the indie, art-house variety. While there’s nothing wrong with a good major market blockbuster, the 4th largest city in America should be able to support more than just one theater showing films that film critics would be raving about come awards season.
Thus, Houston rejoiced when the Robert Redford-backed Sundance Group announced that it would be premiering its newest and third theater in the old Angelika space. With doors officially opened in November 2011, Sundance Cinema features a variety of changes and renovations to the old décor and business model, but the driving impetus remains the same – provide Houston’s cinema lovers the chance to view films that they wouldn’t be able to see at most AMC, Regal, or Cinemark theaters.
Located at 510 Texas Street in the heart of the Houston Downtown area, Sundance Cinema offers up a wide range of amenities and services that set its movie-going experience apart from its competitors. This desire for enhanced ambience starts at the box office where you can reserve seats in advance of your movie time, moves to the food and beverages available at the Sundance Bar, and flows all the way into the posh seating, lighting, and audio presentation in the each of the eight auditoriums.
The Sundance Group also prides itself on pursuing environmental sustainability at every possible turn, whether it’s in facility construction or in the vessels and flatware used for beverages and food. So, those of you who appreciate businesses going “green” need look no further for your new favorite theater.
Thus, whether you’re a long-term Houston resident or visiting from out of town, Bounce encourages you to pay a visit to Sundance Cinema very soon. Don’t do it just because they’re one of our customers (though that’s a fine idea too) – do it because you love movies and supporting small businesses in Texas.
