PeriwinkleFoundationLet us be blunt: cancer sucks. It really sucks. Regardless of what part of the body it might attack, it’s a terrible affliction with painful treatment processes, and it affects too many people. Most of us have an extended family member or friend that has received the life-altering diagnosis of cancer, and it strikes fear in all our hearts. Thankfully, there are amazing organizations out there like The Periwinkle Foundation that invest years of hard work into providing care to children and families battling pediatric cancer.

Throughout the month of May, Bounce Energy will be working with The Periwinkle Foundation to raise funds and awareness for its fight against pediatric cancer. We are donating $2,500 to the organization, as well as 50 cents for every new “Like” we receive on Facebook in May.

2013 is a special year The Periwinkle Foundation, as it’s celebrating its 30th anniversary of connecting young children and adolescents battling all forms of pediatric cancer with the necessary treatment. What makes these fine folks so remarkable is their innate understanding that these kids and their families require more than just access to doctors and hospitals. What they really need is additional support that addresses the intense emotional and psychological worries that people experience when dealing with cancer.

Periwinkle Foundation FreedomThe organization’s heart comes through in its Mission Statement: “The Periwinkle Foundation develops and provides programs that positively change the lives of children, young adults and families who are challenged by cancer and other life threatening illnesses and are cared for at Texas Children’s Hospital.” They believe that, as the pediatric cancer survival rate grows, the need for long-term support and programs grows as well. The Periwinkle Foundation accomplishes these goals through a series of camps for kids and families, long-term survivor programs, and a vigorous Arts and Creative Writing Program.

While it’s wonderful that most children who have been diagnosed with cancer survive these days thanks to modern medicine, The Periwinkle Foundation knows that these kids and families still need help with healing and recovering from the awful cancer experience. Thus, we want to do our small part in assisting this outstanding non-profit organization by broadcasting its efforts to all our friends and followers.
