It’s passé to comment upon my surprise that the year is already half over, but the first 6 months of 2013 did rush by rather quickly. I’m going to attribute that prompt passage of time to how active and engaged we’ve been on the blog and over at our 3 Tumblr outposts. So, as June winds to a hot and sweaty close, let’s take a few moments to re-visit some of our favorite posts from Bounce Energy Tumblr, Bounce Energy Savings, and Project: Greenify.

We began the month by helping people learn how to really enjoy summer in Texas. The post was based upon this great list from Buzzfeed, and we recommend spending your Texas summer in a pool surrounded by Topo Chico, Blue Bell ice cream, and barbecue.

Following that was a recap of our 3-part gardening series from Project: Greenify. Each part of the series was shared several times, as we discussed growing tips for folks in the Mid-Atlantic and New England areas, urban gardening efforts (especially when you have a lack of space for growing), and starting your backyard garden from seedlings.

Since everyone likes a green lawn that’s pretty and healthy, we wanted to provide 6 tips for watering your lawn in the summer. We found the suggestions to water in the morning and then to water infrequently (but deeply) to be most helpful.

School’s out, so your kids are home all day and needing stuff to do so they don’t go stir-crazy. Hopefully, you’ll find these 6 cool activities for keeping your kids entertained a bit helpful. We’re a fan of the water balloon piñata, making snow cones, building that backyard water park, and visiting the local public library.

It’s always good to save money by lowering your electricity usage while you’re on vacation. Here are 5 nifty tips to help with just that. We especially like turning off the lights, adjusting the air conditioner, and unplugging energy vampires.

This collection of 7 green gift suggestions for Father’s Day are extra helpful because they will work for birthdays, Christmas, or any other gift-giving situation. Heck, I’m not even a Dad, and might just buy that Rubik’s Cube Pencil Holder, solar watch, and grass-fed for myself – because they’re awesome.

Recently, we discussed how you can go green in your home by investing in an energy efficient home mortgage. Our guest blogger from Total Mortgage talked about how to research mortgage rates, install energy efficiency upgrades in your home, and lower your utility bills to add value to your home.

Finally, because it’s always a good time to talk to your kids about money management, we offered up 4 excellent tips for getting that conversation started. We encourage folks to teach budgeting by giving your child an allowance and then to teach good practices in general by setting a good example with your overall household budget.
