Together Let’s Help Kids Start the Year Off Right By Supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters

Help Bounce Energy support Big Brothers Big Sisters! What’s a better start to the year than helping kids in need? And with January being National Mentoring Month, what better way to start than by helping us support Big Brothers Big Sisters. Instead of breaking off into two charities for Texas and Pennsylvania, we will be donating all proceeds equally to the Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations in each state.

For those unfamiliar with Big Brothers Big Sisters, this organization “makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 7 through 14, in communities across the country.” Pairing these children up with mentors has a real and deep impact for each of these kids. Researchers studied the impacts during an 18 month period where they monitored children in the program versus children not in the program. This study found that:

46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
27% less likely to begin using alcohol
52% less likely to skip school
37% less likely to skip a class
33% less likely to hit someone

They also found that the Littles were more confident of their performance in schoolwork and getting along better with their families.

Not only is this organization making the lives of children better, they’re also helping children improve their relationship with their families.

Now through the end of January, Bounce Energy will donate 50 cents for every new “like” on our Facebook along with a donation of $2500. Remember that this charity campaign is for Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in both Texas and Pennsylvania, so let’s all help get out the word and make 2013 a great one for the kids!
