BE - aprilLife Hacks are popular for many reasons, but we really like them because they tend to save you money. In fact, there are websites like DealNews.com and Lifehacker that provide big money-saving tips by putting together a yearly timeline of when it’s financially best to buy certain items. These websites have product-research specialists monitoring prices throughout the year and have found that big discounts for some items still go by the calendar.

In our fourth installment of this series, we’re telling you the key items to purchase during the month of April.

Mid-Season Clothing – According to Dealnews.com, shoppers can find deals on new seasonal clothing about two months after they hit the stores. Clothing retailers roll out their spring seasonal line in February, so shoppers should start seeing deals between 25%-40% off in April.

Small Kitchen Appliances and Accessories – Wedding and graduation seasons are quickly approaching, so consumers can find deals on common gifts for weddings and graduations. For example, look for items like coffee makers, toaster ovens, pots, pans, and other sundry kitchen items.

TV’s and Electronics – If you are in the market for a TV or some type of electronics, then this month may be the time for you to make that purchase – as long as you are open to an older model. Lifehacker.com reports that Japan’s fiscal year ends in March, which means they start discounting electronics and TV’s to get rid of old stock.

Real Estate – The buying and selling of homes starts to peak in April and continues through the summer. April is a great time because everything is bright and in bloom increasing a house’s curb appeal. Also, it’s near the end of the school year, which makes it a more convenient time for families with children. Note: Because the demand is high around this time, buyers looking for a great deal or a strong negotiation may want to wait till the fall or winter when there is less demand and sellers are more likely to negotiate.

Vacuums – April is a good month to think about purchasing vacuums as retailers will discount them due to the spring cleaning craze. Also, the new models come out in June so many retailers will discount older models to make room for the new ones.

Sneakers – April is about the time when non-serious runners start dusting off their old running shoes and start hitting the pavement (according to Time.com). If you’re in the market for new ones or haven’t purchased a pair of running shoes since 1999 – it’s time to take advantage of the discounts and buy a new pair.
