5 Fun Family Festivities for Father's Day“I have always had the feeling I could do anything, and my dad told me I could. I was in college before I found out he might be wrong.” – Ann Richards

He’s dried your tears, helped you with your homework, and taught you how to throw a baseball. Or perhaps he stayed up waiting for you when you thought no one would notice if you broke your curfew. Whatever the contribution, show Dad how much you appreciate having him in your life.

Whether your father is a foodie, a sports lover, or a movie buff, we’ve got 5 fun festivities to help your family spend quality time with your dad on Father’s day.

1) Take a Stroll Down Memory Lane – Take a trip to some of the favorite places you visited with your dad when you were younger. Start by visiting your old neighborhood, your elementary school, or a favorite park. This is sure to bring about some stories your dad will love to reminisce about.

2) Treat Dad to a Steak Dinner – Brunch is a quintessential Mother’s Day treat – but brunch for Father’s Day? Not so much. Treat your Dad to a carnivorous feast, be it grilling in the backyard or dining at a steakhouse. I mean, what dad doesn’t want a steak to celebrate his special day?

3) Take your Dad to His Favorite “Toy Store” – How many times did your dad take you to the toy store when you were a kid? Whether his “toy store” is Home Depot, Barnes and Noble, or Academy (or all of the above!), return the favor and spoil your dad by taking him to the shop of his choice and letting him pick out whatever he wants.

4) Watch the World Cup Together – Let your Dad kick back, relax, and enjoy two 45-minute halves, uninterrupted by commercials. Kick-off the game by serving dad typical food found in stadiums like hot dogs, burgers, and fries. Better yet, you can go with an international approach and serve Brazilian specialties, such as Pao de Queijo, Churrasquinho de Carne, Feijoada and a Caipirinha. Make sure you have comfortable seating around the TV so the whole family can sit together and have a good view. On Father’s Day, there will be 3 games:  1) Switzerland vs. Ecuador at 11 AM, 2) France vs. Honduras at 2 PM, and 3) Argentina vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina at 5 PM CST.

5) Take in a Movie – In the end, all most dads really want on Father’s Day is to spend time together with their families. So, what better way to do that than to sit and watch a flick together? Some great movies to watch your Dad could be Father of the Bride, Field of Dreams, or National Lampoon’s Family Vacation.

Make this Father’s Day special for your Dad by making the most of your time together with activities that the entire family will enjoy.
