Bounce Energy Gets Active with the YMCA in January 2016

By Annie Weglicki, January 14, 2016, Charity & Community

At Bounce Energy, we believe in connecting with our community by partnering with local charities. Therefore, we are excited to announce our partnership with the YMCA of Greater Houston in January 2016. Our goal of our monthly social media campaign is to help this storied organization further develop their after-school programs.

Each and every day, the YMCA helps to support the developing needs of the larger Houston community. In order to support the diversity of needs, they are developing programs that focus on three main areas:

Academic Achievement

Currently, only 9% of economically disadvantaged students in Houston are college ready. To combat this, the YMCA has developed educational programs during out-of-school time.

Chronic Disease Prevention

Since 3 of every 4 deaths in Texas are caused by chronic disease, we need to change this powerful statistic. To accomplish this, the YMCA has developed health and wellness programs to educate Houston’s youth about nutrition, ways to live a healthier lifestyle, and how to combat diseases such as hypertension and Type 2 diabetes.

Water Safety

Texas ranks second nationally in drowning deaths and 22% of state drowning deaths happen in Houston. By offering water safety instruction programs for children and their families, the YMCA can ensure more Houstonians feel comfortable around the water.

We could not be more excited to partner with the YMCA of Greater Houston because of their dedication to supporting the children of Houston and having an unparalleled impact on our community. We have pledged to give a donation of $2,500 to develop their out-of-school programming, and we will also donate an additional 50 cents for every new Facebook “Like” and Twitter follower we gain during January 2016.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to show your support of the YMCA – all it takes is a simple click of your mouse!
