Electricity company rewards three outstanding students with inaugural award.

Bounce Energy has announced the three recipients of the first "BE More" Scholarship. Based in Houston, TX, the retail electricity provider made this $2,500 award available to any student living in or attending college in one of the three states where Bounce Energy provides service - Texas, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Eligible students also had to maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and provide transcripts showcasing their academic abilities. The key factor in determining the award recipients was each student's answer to the following: "Just like Bounce Energy is more than an electricity company, how do you consider yourself to be more than just a student?" Other important considerations included the student's efforts and activities outside the classroom.

With over 1,100 applications received from April 15th through May 15th, 2013, the scholarship winners are:

  1. Molly Bogolin of Orchard Park, NY
  2. Thomas Fogwell of Chester Springs, PA
  3. Lucinda Yu of Houston, TX

"The roots of this scholarship program can be found in our company's desire to support the communities we serve through various charity efforts," stated Paul Colgin, Bounce Energy CMO. "We received over a thousand applications for this scholarship, many of which contained inspiring stories from a diverse range of impressive young men and women, making the selection very difficult for our review board. Ultimately, we feel that these three students best exemplify the qualities and traits we wanted to see in our scholarship winners."

Bounce Energy plans to offer this scholarship again in 2014. The electricity company is also discussing options for expanding its scholarship program in future years.
